AIM Foundation
April, 1989

Founding AIM GmbH in Freiburg, Germany by Hansjoerg Frey, Eugen Krassin, Karl Specht and Hans Zogalla and residing in the Technology Center, Freiburg.

Worldwide first COTS STANAG3910 Testing Interface
October, 1989

AIM presents its first product:  AVM3910-M a VMEbus 3910 Interface Module.
The AVM3910 is worldwide the first COTS STANAG3910 Testing Interface with an AIM designed Fibre Optic Frontend.

The very first year

In the beginning, Training and Consulting for the upcoming FPGA technology was also part of the business.

AVM1553T and AVM3910TX
April, 1991

These are AIM’s first generation of VME based full function Test and Simulation Modules for MIL-STD-1553 and STANAG3910.

1992
MBA-90 Bus Analyzer System
September, 1992

Within 1992 AIM introduced the MBA-90,  AIM’s first VME and MS-DOS based Bus Analyzer System.

1993
Move to new Facilities
April, 1993

AIM has grown ( approx. 10 employees) and moved to new facilities
in Freiburg, Burkheimer Str. 3

First PC based MIL-STD-1553 Card
May, 1993

1993 AIM presents the APC1553T – the first generation of full function Test and Simulation Modules for MIL-STD-1553 for ISA bus.

PBA-90 Bus Analyzer System
November, 1993

PBA-90 was AIM’s first PC and MS-DOS based Bus Analyzer System.

1994
First PC based ARINC 429 Interface Card
May, 1994

AIM introduces the APC429, its first ARINC 429 Product for ISA bus.

PAA-429 Analyzer Software
July, 1994

With the PAA-429, AIM offers its first Windows based ARINC 429 Bus Analyzer Software.

Opening AIM-UK Office
November, 1994

The AIM UK office was established in High Wycombe (West of London) during November 1994.

AVM1553-2-DS for ISS Test Stands
March, 1995

AIM developed its first dual stream VME1553 Board
AVM1553-2-DS for ISS (International Space Station) Test Stands

PBA-2000 and PBA-3910 Analyzer Software
April, 1996

PBA-2000 and PBA-3910 are AIM’s first Windows based Bus Analyzer for MIL-STD-1553 and STANAG3910.
The AIM firstly introduced “Systems Overview” was unqiue and copied by many competitor tools.

Delivery of AIM’s first Fibre Optic Extension System for
MIL-STD-1553 for EMC testing application.

1997
ParaView
February, 1997

First High Level Bus Analyzer Windows Software for Parameter Handling.
It unified MIL-STD-1553, ARINC429, STANAG3910 and later ARINC664 parameter view via a single GUI.

Foundation of the first AIM Office in the USA
March, 1997

AIM has been present in the North American Avionics market since 1997. The first AIM USA office was operated by Douglas Ullah in Boyton Beach, FL.

First High Level Bus Analyzer (HLBA)

AIM presents its first High Level Bus Analyzer (HLBA) Systems used on all 4 Typhoon Finaly Assembly Lines in Germany, Italy, UK and Spain.
The begin of a very successful Systems family with many Systems delivered in various configurations and form factors over the years.

October, 2000

AIM-USA Enterprise with US partners as majority shareholders was founded.
Headquartered out of Omaha, Nebraska, AIM-USA strengthens our sales and customer support throughout North America and Canada based on a 10-Year contract.

2001
Opening AIM GmbH Munich Sales Office
January, 2001

AIM GmbH opened a direct Sales Office in Munich, Germany.

Hubert Waldmann took on the challenge as a Sales Manager for AIM’s standard products and systems covering the territories of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark.

In the meantime over 40 employees work with AIM GmbH.

The first dedicated AFDX/ARINC664 Test and Simulation Interface Modules for the A380 program for PCIbus.

Our work and involvement on EU funded research projects has driven the introduction and delivery of serveral new board level products and Analyzer software. AIM is market leader for AFDX/ARINC664 Ethernet based Test Equipment.

AIM launched its all new www.AIM-ONLINE.com website. The site has been designed to make it very easy for our customers to navigate, view and obtain the very latest product information relating to our advanced range of modules, databus analyzer software, systems, cables and accessories.

PMC Modules for AFDX
April, 2003

The AMC-FDX-2, AIM’s high performance PMC module for A380 integrators and developers working with AFDX based avionics is now available.

AIM contracted by Airbus
April, 2003

AIM contracted by Airbus for supply of Standard AFDX Analyzer Test Equipment on A380 program.

fdXplorer for AFDX/ARINC664
September, 2003

The fdXplorer was worldwide the first dedicated Network Analyzer
and Simulator Software for AFDX/ARINC664 in the Avionics
market. fdXplorer quickly became the “reference” in AFDX/ARINC664 Network Analyzer Software.

Support for Boeing B787 Dreamliner Program
March, 2005

AIM is supporting the Boeing B787 Dreamliner program with ARINC664 Test and Simulation products.

September, 2005

With the APX1553 and the APX3910, AIM launches the
2nd Generation of full function Test and Simulation modules for MIL-STD-1553 and STANAG3910 for PCI(-X)bus.

Introduction of a modular and scalable Bus Analyzer, Simulator and Visualizer Software for all avionic Buses and Networks supported by AIM test and simulation products.
An open software architecture and expandability via further COTS 3rd Party interface modules makes PBA.pro unique product in test and simulation applications.

Redesign of the AIM Website

2008 AIM decides to redesign its website with a new exciting look, feel and improved navigation for fast access to technical data sheets and a powerful download area.

ARINC664 Conformance Test System

AIM was contracted to implement a turn key testing solution for the conformance testing of AFDX/ARINC664P7 Switch and End Systems.

20 Years Anniversary of AIM GmbH

AIM has released the APE-FDX-2, AFDX/ARINC664P7 PCI Express test and simulation module, being the first of the new second generation and successor to the formidable API-FDX-2 module.

Users can now capture 10G Ethernet data in harmony with data from other AIM interfaces including MIL-STD-1553, STANAG3910/EFEX, ARINC429, AFDX/ARINC664P7 and more. The 10G board can be synchronized to external time sources, as with the AIM boards, hence the solutions offers precise time synchronization across all avionics interfaces within PBA.pro.
